Our Policies
Smart Daycare provides a safe, consistent and nurturing environment for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. These policies help families understand our routines, expectations and safety practices.
Hours of Operation
Monday to Friday
7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Late pick-ups must be communicated in advance. Additional fees may apply.
Enrollment & Attendance
- Children must be registered before attending care.
- Daily attendance is required unless the child is ill or away for family reasons.
- Please notify us by text or email if your child will be absent.
Illness Policy
To protect all children, please keep your child home if they have:
- Fever
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- Contagious illness
- Severe cough or cold symptoms
Children may return once they are symptom-free for 24 hours, or with a doctor’s note if required.
Medication Policy
Medication will only be administered with:
- Written parent permission
- Clear dosage instructions
- Original packaging
Emergency medications such as an EpiPen or inhaler must remain on site.
Nutrition
Smart Daycare provides healthy meals and snacks daily. Please inform us of:
- Allergies
- Dietary restrictions
- Cultural food preferences
We follow all allergy-safe practices.
Outdoor Play
Children take part in daily outdoor play, weather permitting. Please send appropriate seasonal clothing:
- Winter: snowsuit, boots, mittens
- Summer: hat, sunscreen
Outdoor play is skipped only during unsafe weather conditions.
Nap & Rest Time
A quiet rest period is provided daily. Infants follow their own nap schedule; toddlers and preschoolers follow the daycare routine.
Behaviour Guidance
We use positive, supportive strategies:
- Redirection
- Gentle reminders
- Encouraging problem-solving
- Teaching emotional skills
No physical punishment or harsh discipline is ever used.
Emergency Procedures
Smart Daycare maintains:
- Emergency contact forms
- Fire safety plan
- Monthly fire drills
- First Aid & CPR certification
Parents will be notified immediately in case of an emergency.
Pick-Up Authorization
Children will only be released to:
- Parents
- Legal guardians
- Authorized adults listed on the registration form
Photo ID may be required.
Communication
We believe in strong parent-educator communication. You will receive updates through:
- Daily messages
- Photos, if permitted
- Monthly learning summaries
Privacy & Confidentiality
All personal information is kept confidential and used only for childcare purposes.
Termination of Care
Smart Daycare may end care if:
- Policies are repeatedly not followed
- Fees are unpaid
- Safety concerns arise
Parents will receive notice whenever possible.
